A brand new character joins the franchise at this late stage
The latest character for Dead or Alive 6 Last Round, Minato, will be released tomorrow, September 10.
This was made clear by developers Team Ninja, who put out a trailer for the character, who was first talked about at Evo 2026.
Minato is described as an average high school girl who gives off a sense of otherworldliness and is a mystery to her classmates and colleagues. She is an avid dance fan, and this shows up in her fighting style, which utilizes rhythm to destroy opponents.
Minato is the second DLC to be released in September, with a new Leifang Shadow Bundle being the first, and two other character costumes for Kokoro and Hitomi set to go live over the rest of the month.
Dead or Alive 6 Last Round is a re-release of the original 2019 DOA 6 and came out in June 2026.
The addition of Minato is something of a surprise, as she is a new character to the franchise. The expectation of most fans was that any new efforts toward character creation would be directed toward Dead or Alive 7, but the developers had something else in mind. It is possible that Minato will be an important character for DOA 7, and this is a way of getting fans on board with her beforehand.
It is reminiscent of Luke in Street Fighter. The new character was added in Street Fighter V as the final DLC and was a way to get fans and players acclimatized to a character who was expected to become the new face of the franchise by Street Fighter 6.
Dead or Alive 7 is in the works, but there is currently no clarity as to when it will be released.
