Team Arcana, the successor to Examu, which some might in turn remember as Yuki Enterise, has surprised everyone with the sudden announcement that their old arcade hit is coming to Steam this year.
Daemon Bride was first released nearly 15 years ago, in July of 2009. On the surface, it might appear to be a more or less standard anime fighter, but the devil is in the details. Daemon Bride always stood out among other games thanks to its approach to movement, giving players an ability to dash in all 8 directions, leading to some of the most freeflowing neutral and combos that you might find in the genre.
The game was succesful enough to receive a new edition a few years later, titled "Additional Gain." It seems like Team Arcana saw even more potential in the title, so in 2024 they dusted it off again, with a global release for Daemon Bride exAGAIN.
This finally gets us to here and now, with the newest title going back to "Additional Gain." The Steam page for it is light on details. No exact date, no price, no mention of additional single player mode, or any sort of enhancements, but it does mention the one word many of us are looking for when these games finally get modern ports – rollback.
Let's just hope that it comes out to be good. As it is, there is actually a way to play Daemon Bride on PC, but it's far from being a user friendly (or legal) experience, which this port might very well address, giving both old and potential new fans a way to experience an anime fighter that remains to be charmingly unique.
