Controversy As Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero Grand Final Marred By Bugs
Bandai Namco might have forcibly asked a player to change characters

Bandai Namco have come under fire yet again, but it's not for Tekken 8 this time, rather it is for Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero, a new fighter released this year. The game which many are still coming to terms with, has already started a tournament circuit with the Dramatic Showdown Tournament which is to run till the finals in Los Angeles in January 2025.

Things got a little weird recently at the France qualifier of the event where there was some trouble in the Grand Finals as the two players facing each other resorted to simply pulling off evasive measures without getting into the fight.

Hilliasteur and Shiryxu, the two players involved in Grand Finals had picked teams that included Android 19 and Dr. Gero, two characters that have unlimited access to the 'ki' mechanic which amongst other things, enables characters to zip around the screen with dashes. With both finalists having access to this mechanic, they proceeded to spam the mechanic, whizzing all across the screen without fighting.

According to Hilliasteur, he stated that he wasn't explicitly told to change characters, but was given a rather impossible situation which was to either 'seriously play' or risk disqualification. However, Hilliasteur insisted that he was playing seriously and that dashing around hoping to get one hit and then running down the timer is the current meta strategy to win in the game currently.

Hilliasteur lost the match, but said he didn't mind as it at least showed the developer the problem with the game and hopefully there will be a fix in the near future.
