A unique opportunity for fans to see their favorite Smash stars battle in-person after facing off remotely in previous online Coinbox events.

Exciting news for Super Smash Bros. fans - Team Liquid and Coinbase have announced a new in-person invitational event called COINBOX IRL happening on December 17th in Washington D.C. USA. 

And so, @TeamLiquid and @Coinbase are proud to announce: The COINBOX IRL Dec. 17th, in Washington D.C. An exhibition-style invitational featuring the past Coinbox champions: Sparg0, Sonix, Riddles, Dabuz, Maister, Skyjay, Armadillo, Scend, ShinyMark, Sisqui + more

Smash legend and Team Liquid player Hungrybox shared the news on X (formerly Twitter), saying "Many surprises yet to be announced.

This event will apply for a license from Nintendo as well. If the application is granted, this event will become something a lot more incredible. Many surprises yet to be announced. Thank you for your patience!

The exhibition-style tournament will feature past champions from the online Coinbox event series, including some of Smash's top talent like Sparg0, Sonix, Riddles, Dabuz, Maister, Skyjay, Armadillo, Scend, ShinyMark, and Sisqui. More player announcements are to come.

The organizers are also applying for an official license from Nintendo to take the competition to the next level. If approved, the license would open up new possibilities to make COINBOX IRL an even more special event. Team Liquid and Coinbase teased that more incredible surprises are in store if Nintendo grants the license application.
