Cody Mystics Release Modern Port of Kizuna Encounter: Super Tag Battle
The updated version also includes some entirely new features.

Code Mystics are back at it again with another high effort PC port of a classic SNK title – Kizuna Encounter: Super Tag Battle.

The original game came back all the way back in 1996, as a sequel to Savage Reign from a year prior. Much like Samurai Shodown, it had a much bigger emphasis on weapons than Fatal Fury and Art of Fighting, and Kizuna Encounter further mixed things up by introducing a somewhat unique tag system.

Rather than the modern tag fighters, where you usually combine the attacks from both characters with tags and assists, this one is more akin to someone tagging in their wrestling partner. You first had to get to the designated tag zone, and then put in your other character, and if any of you gets KO'd, it's game over.

This new version from Code Mystics comes with some of the nice things you've come to expect. Rollback netcode from masters of the art, a hitbox viewer, proper training mode and even a jukebox.

On top of that, it supports up to 4 player matches, and has a lobby setup similar to the recent Real Bout Fatal Fury 2 release, which includes an option for several different formats for online tournaments.

The only downside here might be the $19.99 price tag for a 1996 game, which already caused a few negative reviews to pop up. However, the game is currently selling for $14.99 with a hefty 25% launch discount.
