Capcom have released a patch for Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 to revert the game to a previous state after a surprise patch really messed with some settings.
UMVC3, as the game is commonly known within the community, was originally released in 2011 and quickly became a fan favorite thanks to its memorable roster and gameplay that many players still consider enjoyable today. Many tournaments still have UMVC3 competitions and it is a game that has endured thanks to a passionate community.
A few days ago, the game unexpectedly received an update without any prior announcement. While the surprise initially generated excitement among fans, that enthusiasm quickly faded.
Players soon discovered that the patch had introduced several issues that negatively affected the game. One of the most notable examples was an apparent, unintentional nerf to Dark Phoenix. Phoenix, a character with the unique ability to return after defeat through her transformation mechanic, was heavily impacted by the update and reportedly lost access to that functionality.
Capcom addressed the situation through a short statement posted on the game's Steam page:
"We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this has caused.
"We implemented support for Windows 11, but since some operational issues were found, we are currently taking steps to revert the update and return it to its previous state. We will review our future plans and provide further updates at a later time."
For now, the game has been restored to its earlier state. However, Capcom's statement suggests there may still be plans for additional updates in the future, potentially with a more complete rollout.
There is currently no indication as to when any future update may arrive.
