All Six Heroes are now going to be playable.
During a recent stream, Arc System Works made a wildly unexpected announcement that a whole new character will be coming to BlazBlue Central Fiction.
All that was known is that it's going to be a character that previously appeared in the mainline games, but it was enough for many of you to correctly guess who it was going to be.
With Trinity Glassfille joining the cast, all of Six Heroes are now playable, though if you do not care for the lore, expect a very strong magic user with some potentially weird powers. Depending on how complicated ArcSys wants to get with this, we might get a magic zoner, or some really interesting take on a puppet character.
Sadly, no release date just yet. As we know from the prior stream, they simply do not have anything to show it just yet. They wanted to give audience the good news as early as possible, so we know that the character exists, but she's still in early production stages.
Some have shown concern that this new DLC might look incongruent with the rest of the game, since ArcSys haven't done sprites in a while, but you probably have nothing to worry about. To begin with, these sprites were done by using 3D models as a basis, then tracing and drawing on top to produce sprites. It's still a demanding technique, but compared to the old days of individual artists drawing sprite sheets, it's way better for overall consistency.
Additionally, we're talking about a company that managed to perfectly capture Akira Toriyama's style in 3D, is there really any doubt that they can replicate the style of their own series?
Not quite related, but it's beautiful to see Mori produce a new illustration for Trinity. While he has his own studio to worry about, it does ignite some hope for future collaborations.
