BlazBlue Central Fiction Is Getting a New Character

This is not April Fools, not a prank, not a joke, not a silly bait edit. On their latest announcement stream, Arc System Works actually stated that they will be adding a new character to BlazBlue Central Fiction. Over 10 years after the game's initial release in Japanese arcades.

There is remarkably little know about the character, but they actually have a good reason for this. So far we have two very important pieces of information:

1. The character is in very early stages of development, so there is outright no gameplay to show at the moment.
2. The character is someone who was previously featured in a mainline BlazBlue game.

That second point doesn't necessarily mean previously playable character, but rather someone who was featured in the game's story.

We will know who they are very soon, but they likely won't release until late 2026 at the earliest.

Needless to say this is quite exciting news for the game, and the game actually saw a flood of players after the announcement. Getting a new character after all this time surely has to mean something, right? The big hope at the moment is that this is a way for ArcSys to gauge interest for an entirely new BlazBlue game.

It probably helps that Entropy Effect is not doing too bad either. Even though it's not made by ASW, the game is currently sitting at nearly 30k very positive reviews on Steam (which is an indicator of extremely healthy sales).

At worst, this is still more content for a great game, which could really revitalize the playerbase. In case you didn't know, BBCF was updated with good rollback netcode some years ago, so jumping in and giving it a try is easier than ever.
