During the recent Tokyo Games Show, one of the most overlooked announcements was the Battle Arena Toshinden port collection from Eida.
Battle Arena Toshinden games have been some of the earliest 3D fighters in general, and by extension some of the earliest 3D fighters on the original PlayStation.
In many ways it shows its age, it's not one of the smoothest or enjoyable fighters to play, which is why it doesn't seem to get as many fond retrospective as other 3D fighting games of that era.
This collection aims to release modern ports for:
- Battle Arena Toshinden (1995)
- Battle Arena Toshinden 2 (1995)
- Battle Arena Toshinden 3 (1996)
Just 3 games out of 5 in the main series, lacking Battle Arena Toshinden URA and Toshinden 4.
This also means no fun spin-offs like the GBA version of Battle Arena Toshinden (which is far better than the main game) or Battle Arena Nitoshinden.
That said, the fans of the first three games might be happy to hear that playing them might get a bit easier.
