Atari Releases Classic Godzilla Fighting Game Remaster After 24 Years
The arena fighting game is getting the updated look after 24 years

Veteran video game company Atari, along with Pipeworks Studios, has released a remaster of the 2002 arena fighting game, Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee. The game was something of a classic, gaining high scores when it was released back in the day.

The premise was pretty simple: huge kaiju fighting one another as a hapless city is stomped to smithereens around them. It was a bit of mindless fun that has now been remastered for a new generation.

The latest version of the game was officially released on November 3, 2026, and adds a few features. There is now better online support, with up to four players able to fight one another at the same time. The developers also added a practice mode and other single-player modes for each of the 12 kaiju.

Another improvement has been made to the unlock system. When you start the game, not every kaiju is unlocked. However, unlike the old game, where you had to do something hyper-specific to unlock each new kaiju in sequence, you now have the choice of which kaiju you want to unlock, and once the requirements are met, the kaiju becomes available.

Some notable names within the FGC are already having fun with the game, like Justin Wong, who has streamed the brawler to his audience.

Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee Remastered is available on PlayStation 5, PC, and Xbox.
