Arslan Ash Will Attend Cape Town Showdown 2023 For TWT

Evo winner and Tekken legend Arslan Ash announced on his Twitter that he would be heading to Africa for the first time to compete ata Tekken 7 tournament in South Africa. 

The tournament in question is Cape Town Showdown which is  a designated Challenger event on the Tekken World Tour 2023 calendar. This means that the winner is up to win about 220 points. 

This is great news as Arslan Ash was in danger of not making the event due to visa issues, but he was able to make some headway and will be at the event for the next weekend. 

South Africa was truly  announced to the world in July when they hosted the Red Bull Kumite and the likes of Tokido, Kakeru, Big Bird and many others were able to experience the amazing African nation. Thanks to that success, Africa is becoming more of a viable location for tournaments and this one promises to be stacked. 

Some of the most notable attendees include Book,  Anakin, and Chikurin. 

Arslan Ash also talked a lot about the problems Pakistani players faced especially with the difficulty in obtaining visas. He had tweeted about sometimes regretting owning a Pakistani passport which some took to be a rebellious tweet against his country, but he explained that it was anything but. 

According to him, the nation is super talented in Squash and Hockey, but due to some of these issues, the country's standing is no longer as impressive and this has affected the new generation of sportsmen. He fears that the same thing can affect the incredibly talented Pakistan FGC who are incredible in Tekken. 

Cape Town Showdown will take place on the 16th and 17th of September in Cape Town, South Africa. The tournament will also host a Street Fighter 6 event. 

Arslan is at the top of the Global Leaderboard for the TWT with 1735 points, over 400 points above the second placed Ulsan.
