Some time ago, there were concerning, but not entirely confirmed rumors of Arcade1Up shutting down. A "leaked" internal email warned people that it might be their last day of work, and that it's not clear with will happen with ongoing projects or the company in general.

It seems like those allegations had some weight, because Basic Fun! has acquired some select assets from Arcade1Up, so yes, it's back but in a limited capacity. Basic Fun! themselves are a toys and children's entertainment company. You might know it from Tonka trucks and Care Bears, among other things.

In their recent statement, the company states that they will try to support the existing line-up of Arcade1Up products to the best of their ability, reflecting their commitment to the home arcade presence. It's not much information, but they will supposedly have more to say in 2026.
