Arc System Works New Tokyo Studio Is Working on a Fighting Game
Their new fighting game will be a part of the big IP360 project, with subsidy from Japanese government.

Arc System Works has generally been on a roll with fighting games, both historically but especially more recently. Aside from Marvel Tokon facing some issues thanks to being handled by Sony, starting with Dragon Ball FighterZ it has been one success after another.

Between that and ASW perfecting the techniques for stylized 3D aesthetic, everyone has been asking them for new fighting games the same way people used to yearn for a PlatinumGames action game based on anything and everything.

It seems like soon people will get what they were asking for, because Arc System Works just announced that they will opening a new game studio in Tokyo.

Studio Takumi will be working on a fighting game that previously surfaced on the list for IP360 project, an initiative from Japanese government to provide funding and support to companies and promote Japanese IPs on the global market.

Machine translated description for it says the following:

The objective of this project is to launch a competitive fighting game based on a new intellectual property (IP)—one that elevates our company’s unique 3D animation style—on a global scale, thereby establishing our international competitiveness as an independent IP holder. Through an innovative system, we aim to broaden our market reach from core enthusiasts to casual players, ultimately building long-term value for the IP as a whole. Our core strategy centers on simultaneous releases across all major platforms, comprehensive multi-language localization, and the integration of related video content. Furthermore, we will implement a multifaceted community engagement strategy—including the organization of e-sports tournaments and the provision of support for beginners—to foster and amplify user enthusiasm. By leveraging this subsidy, we intend to solidify our presence in the global market through a distinctively Japanese style of expression, ensuring an unshakable reputation for the "Japan Brand."

Many of the project on that list don't necessarily have a Japanese theme to them, so the only thing we can gleam for it is that it will be in-line with other ASW games in terms of style.

This also marks a significant expansion for the company, so in theory their output is only going to increase going forward.
