Arc Sys Details Major Gameplay Changes for Tokon Ahead of AWT Finals
The game looks leagues better now

Arc System Works, the publisher behind the upcoming Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls, has released a statement outlining several key gameplay changes ahead of a scheduled showcase at the Arc World Tour Finals, set to take place later this month in South Korea.

The announcement was accompanied by a new gameplay trailer highlighting some of the implemented changes. According to Arc System Works, the goal was to reassure fans that feedback from the game’s first two beta tests had been heard and acted upon.

Marvel Tokon was first announced in 2025 and has since undergone two beta tests, one in September and another in December. While early impressions were largely positive and many praised the game’s potential, players raised concerns about restrictive mechanics and called for a broader character roster.

These points formed the basis of the development team’s latest round of adjustments, several of which are now beginning to surface publicly.

Major Changes Highlighted By Developer

Following the gameplay reveal, producer Takeshi Yamanaka released a detailed statement addressing the changes and the development process:

“Thank you for your undying support for this project! We hope you enjoyed our X-Men Team Reveal announcement.

We were truly touched by all the comments and the excitement shared online. We are currently refining the game design based on feedback from event demos and Closed Beta Tests 1 and 2. Some improvements are visible in the trailer, including updates to the Assist mechanic, faster character switching, and adjustments to Link Attacks. Additional changes, such as tuning the frequency of area transitions, are not shown in the trailer.

We'll be showcasing the updated game build through hands-on demos at gaming events around the world, and we look forward to meeting you and hearing your feedback.

Up next, the new build will be playable at the Arc World Tour Finals in Seoul, South Korea on March 20th. A total of 11 characters will be available, including the newly announced Magik, Wolverine, and Danger.

Stay tuned for more announcements as we reveal additional characters and game modes. We believe that your feedback is essential to the long-term success and growth of this game, so please, lend us your strength!”

Not all of the changes mentioned are visible in the trailer, meaning fans can expect additional refinements to be revealed during the AWT Finals showcase.

Community Reaction and Roster Expectations

The community response has been broadly positive, with many praising Arc System Works for actively engaging with player feedback. There is a growing belief that developers who take this approach tend to build longer-lasting and more successful competitive games.

The recent introduction of an X-Men team, alongside characters like Magik and Danger, has also given fans hope that we could be in for an all-time classic cast, which is a mix between fan favorites and more niche picks that act as deep cuts for fans of the source materials.

Release Date Approaching

Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls is currently slated for release on August 6, 2026, placing it less than six months away. With hands-on demos rolling out and more characters yet to be revealed, the coming months will be critical in shaping expectations for Arc System Works’ ambitious tag fighter.
