After 15 Years, Fight Night Is Coming Back
Get ready to rumble, I guess?

At some point in time, it felt like boxing games were a distinct sub-genre of fighters, with a variety of titles that had their own approach to how this sport should actually play.

Fight Night games were generally held in higher regard than most others, and were well tuned enough to have a bit of a competitive scene, but in 2011 the series would get is last game with Fight Night Champion.

It was quite well received, though many fans still seem to considere Round 3 to be the pinnacle of the series, but EA never followed up with a sequel, which is apparently about to change.

Over on X, they posted an announcement that the franchise is coming back.

It somewhat unlikely that they would want to start generating buzz like this if it was a simple remaster or modern port, so there's a high chance that we'll be seeing a new entry into the series.

Though what it might look like is a bit of a mystery. Obviously it's going to be a boxing game, but many of the people that worked on the series in the past have moved on to other studios or even left the industry entirely.

Even if the series retains its identity, the new crew might have a different set of design goals and principles, so delivering a game that aligns with what fans expect might be a bit of a challenge.
