2D Fighter Maker, MUGEN, and their descendants have been a fixture of the fighting game genre for over two decades at this point. All for one simple reason, they make it real easy to make a fighting game, or at least a custom character, without having to create a whole framework of systems, mechanics, animations, and other things you need to make a video game.
It enabled dozens of indie fighters over the years, as well as countless builds and modifications that dump all sorts of characters into one game. Saltybet might be the most famous example, as a "game" where you can see 10 different versions of Ronald McDonald fight against Teletubbies or Master Chief.
However, it was always a bit too complex to make one of these for 3D fighters. Not just 2D games with 3D models, but games with full on 3D space.
That's what FightingEngine attempts to achieve.
