In 2023, Europe saw a 1.7% increase in video game sales, with 182 million PC and console games sold. Notably, console sales surged by nearly 42%, driven by significant growth in PlayStation 5 sales. EA Sports FC 24 led the sales charts, despite a 9% decrease from its predecessor. Hogwarts Legacy emerged as a major hit, achieving record-breaking sales. The Call of Duty franchise experienced a rare dip, with Modern Warfare 3 not reaching the top three. Other popular titles included Diablo 4, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, and Super Mario Bros Wonder. GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 continued their strong performance, while new releases like Star Wars Jedi: Survivor and Assassin's Creed Mirage also featured in the top 20.

Also, 34% of all games sold were titles released the same year, slightly lower than the 35% reported in 2022. Regarding platforms, PC ranked first in-game sales, followed by PS5 in second place, Switch in third place, PS4 in fourth place, and Xbox Series S and X in fifth place. Only Switch and PS4 declined in-game sales among these five platforms compared to the previous year. The UK remains the most significant European game market, followed by Germany in second place, France in third place, Spain in fourth place, and Italy in fifth place.
