Kena: Bridge of Spirits

Ember Lab's cute action-adventure game will finally arrive on Xbox three years after releasing on PlayStation and PC. Kena: Bridge of Spirits is a fun adventure game reminiscent of more experimental titles of the PS2 era, with a cinematic presentation and a generic but effective story set in a fantastical world.

     Platform: Xbox consoles

     Date: August 15

Madden NFL 25

Another year, another Madden. This year's entry features improved physics-based tackling, reloaded hit stick, catching and pre-play mechanics, and more improvements thanks to Boom Tech. Die-hard fans of Madden can check out the extensive gameplay deep dive from EA to know exactly what awaits them on the field this year.

Platforms: PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S

     Date: August 16

Black Myth: Wukong

It has been one of the most anticipated action games of the past decade, inspired by Journey to the West. First shown off in 2020, the game's stylish action captured everyone's imagination. Unfortunately, Black Myth: Wukong won't be on Xbox at launch, but at least it's releasing for the vast majority of gamers this year.

     Date: August 20

Dustborn

Quantic Dream's Spotlight banner is bringing something totally unexpected. Dustborn is a comic-book-inspired road trip adventure game which, if its demo was any indication, is shaping up to be something special.

Concord

Concord is definitely one of the biggest games coming out in August, though it doesn't look like most players are interested in it. A live service 5v5 hero shooter isn't what one expects from PlayStation, but there is some familiar PlayStation storytelling under the hood with its weekly cinematics.

     Platforms: PC and PS5

     Date: August 23

World of Warcraft: The War Within

It has been 20 years since World of Warcraft first graced our computer monitors, and it's hard to believe that it's still going. The War Within is WoW's tenth major expansion, expanding on the mechanics introduced in Dragonflight, set in the new realm of Khaz Algar.

     Platform: PC

     Date: August 26

Emio – The Smiling Man: Famicom Detective Club

It's not every day that Nintendo teases or releases something specifically for a mature audience. Emio – The Smiling Man is a mystery visual novel set in Japan, and the first Famicom Detective game in over 30 years! Ayumi Tachibana will join the returning protagonist from previous entries as a playable character.

     Platform: Nintendo Switch

     Date: August 29

Gundam Breaker 4

A brand-new Gundam Breaker game is bringing over 250 base Gunpla kits with it. Gundam Breaker 4 will also include mechs from The Witch From Mercury and a Diorama to show them off on social media.

Platforms: PC, PS4, PS5, and Nintendo Switch

     Date: August 29

Visions of Mana

The Mana series got a shot in the arm with Secret of Mana, and this year's Visions of Mana will, hopefully, propel the franchise's popularity to the stratosphere. The first Mana game in 15 years, the action RPG is set in a fantastical open world populated by wonderfully designed creatures.

Platforms: PC, PS4, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S

     Date: August 29

Star Wars Outlaws

Star Wars Outlaws is the first proper open-world game set in George Lucas' galaxy far, far away. Unlike most Star Wars games, this time you're playing as Kay Vess, an outlaw not unlike Han Solo.

Platforms: PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S

     Date: August 30
