Biography

Story

A young man, Edmond Dantès, lived a happy life. He was preparing for a wedding, but then some evil people plotted against him — and eventually sent the guy to a horrible prison. Only a strong and clear mind helped Edmond survive and find a way out. After five years, he made a way out of the Château d'If.

In prison, Edmond met a strange old man who directed him to a mysterious island where the treasure of Monte Cristo was buried. With the power of this money, Edmond Dantès disappeared, and a newly created Count of Monte Cristo entered French high society.

His intentions were obscure, and his whole personality was surrounded by mystery. The Count of Monte Cristo rarely revealed his true face — and only to those who he was going to kill in a few moments. Revenge has become his biggest idea, and it dictates all his actions. Even making France (and probably the world) a better place isn’t as important for the count.

This story was written by Alexandre Dumas in his famous adventure novel. But in the world of Melty Blood, this isn't fiction. Edmond Dantès exists in a parallel dimension, and Ritsuka Fujimaru decides to summon him to use in the mission of restoring humanity.

The avenging skills of the Count of Monte Cristo are something Ritsuka looked for Team A. The character perfectly represents the class Avenger.

Personality

We can clearly distinguish two sides of this person. One is Edmond Dantès, a kind guy, full of love for his fiancee. But that guy died in a cell of the Château d'If. Someone who escaped that prison is totally different. He is the Count of Monte Cristo.

The Count is cold-blooded and filled with hatred. The strongest moving power for him is revenge, and the Count of Monte Cristo is ready to do anything for this. He has no compassion — it seems like for the whole of humanity but in fact only for evil, corrupted people.

In Melty Blood, we specifically have the dark personality, as Team A needs the Avenger with all his motivation. Still, Ritsuka Fujimaru uses the destructive tendencies for a good cause, to clear and save humanity.

Playstyle

The fighting toolset of this character is nicely balanced, so you have various options for expressing your personal style in Melty Blood: Type Lumina.

Like many other Jacks of All Trades in fighting games, The Count of Monte Cristo lacks well-pronounced advantages you could emphasize in the game. Yes, the character has very strong pokes and deals impressive damage, But at the same time, his attacks are somewhat slow, his mixups are limited, and his dash/backdash speed is low.

Appearance

The Count of Monte Cristo looks like a handsome young guy with rather long blond hair. But the look of those bright eyes is somewhat unsettling…

The character wears a fancy black suit, a cloak, and a hat. He is surrounded by the dark flames of revenge.
