Southern Cross Up 2020 is another installment of New Zealand's largest and longest-running tournament series. Despite difficulties brought on by the pandemic restrictions, New Zealand's fighting games community proved that they are still capable of setting up an intense competition with the greatest players in the region, all of them striving to be crowned champions of the games they represent. 

After online registration, over 110 competitors came together at The Meteor Theatre in Hamilton on October 9th-11th to duke it out in nearly a dozen titles, including Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid, Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite, Mortal Kombat 11, Dragon Ball FighterZ, Samurai Shodown, Granblue Fantasy: Versus, SoulCalibur VI, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Street Fighter V, and Tekken 7.
