Biography

Story

Testament was originally born in Switzerland. After losing their parents to the Crusades, Kliff Undersn adopted them and raised Testament as if they his own child. With deep admiration for Kliff, Testament wished to become a soldier, become Kliff's heir and inherit his name. Their dreams were dashed when government agents suddenly abducted Testament and surgically transformed them into a Gear. This process would normally strip the victim of their memories and personality, but Testament's was able to resist these changes with a powerful force of will and great emotional fortitude. However, they were unable to fight off the Justice's order to destroy all of mankind.

Despite Testament being by no means weak, they were only a mid-class Gear and as such, Kliff was able to defeat them with ease. For unknown reasons, Testament was brought back to life, now stronger than ever and had access to peculiar powers. Testament now wileded a scythe with a blade made of their blood, was able to use force fields, bend time and space to move in an out of dimensions, was well-versed in magic, and could summon a demonic familiar known as Exebeast.

After Justice was defeated, Testament regained their senses but became haunted by their past actions. Due to this, Testament chose to isolate themselves in the Forest of Demons where by chance they met Dizzy. While Testament protected the half-gear from bounty hunters, Dizzy helped them to get over their trauma, eventually allowing Testament to regain their morale and happiness.

The current whereabouts of Testament are unknown, but according to rumors, they still keep in contact with Johnny.

Personality

After breaking free of Conclave’s control, Testament started showing their true self as a kind-hearted person who has deep sense of empathy and abhors violence. Testament is especially good with kids, gives shelter to homeless, and seeks to rehabilitate those who strayed from the righteous path instead of blaming and judging them.

Most notably, Testament spent much time in the Forest of Demons taking care of Dizzy, a half-gear who was constantly haunted by bounty hunters of all sorts. This relationship eventually led to Testament finding peace and harmony, now able to experience happiness once again.

Appearance

Testament has red eyes, pale skin, and long, dark hair. They wear a black top hat, white and black fingerless gloves, long black sleeve on right hand, black vest with white sleeveless poet blouse underneath, brown belt with metallic skulls attached to it, black skirt with two slits, and black long boots.

Playstyle

Testament's forte was originally in laying traps and cursing their opponents, making their life a living hell. In Strive, their kit was redesigned while keeping some general similarities. Testament is now a midrange fighter that focuses on controlling the space and oppressing their opponents with projectiles, far-reaching pokes, curses, and potential mixups.

One of the new unique mechanics Testament has is the Stain state that can be applied on opponents if they block or get hit by certain moves. When in Stain state, some of Testament's attacks will lead to a follow-up hit, which can lead to combos or more pressure.

Grave Reaper is Testament's main projectile with versatile purpose. The special move consists of the initial scythe hit and the follow-up projectile which can be charged to alter its effect. When these projectiles hit or dissipate, they transform into a succubus which Testament can use to further improve their offense. If used in combination with crow projectile, the Unholy Diver, it will direct the crow towards the succubus. If used with Possesion, a new teleport style special move, Testament will disappear and reappear at the position of the succubus.

Lastly, Testament has a potent mix-up tool in the form of Arbiter Sign. This special move summons a beast that will appear on top or below opponents for an overhead or low attack. This move requires decent spacing as the beast won't be able to reach opponents who are too close or too far away from Testament.

Testament Overdrives are a bit more standard. Calamity One is an invincible close range reversal that deals a solid chunk of damage. Nostrovia on the other hand, is an offense-oriented Overdrive. It sends out two succubi who will hit opponent multiple times as they travel forward and will apply Stain state.
