Biography

Story

Eddy Gordo was born into a wealthy family of a Brazillian businessman. Everything went well, and Eddy was well-liked in his neighborhood for his hard work and good character. When he was just 19, Eddy came home from school to find his father injured and dying. His father warned him of potential dangers and advised him to falsely admit to murder and wait things out in prison.

In prison, during one of the riots, Eddy met a man who would become his master and train Eddy until he was to be released. Eight years later, finally released, Eddy joined the third King of Iron Fist tournament in hopes that Mishima Zaibatsu would be able to assist his search for those responsible for his father's murder.

Eddy's search was interrupted when he learned that his master would be released from prison. When the two met, his old master was a shadow of his former self due to incurable illness. This prompted Eddy to enter the infamous tournament once again to seek resources to heal his master. While he didn't win the tournament, Jin Kazama approached Eddy and promised him to provide resources for his master's treatment in exchange for joining Tekken Force. Eddy agreed but would regret his decision later. Even with all the help of Mishima Zaibatsu, the treatment was as futile as Eddy's service as a Tekken Force soldier. Eddy came late to the funeral of his master, who was the grandfather of Christie Monteiro and threw away a pin badge with Jin Kazama's emblem.

Later, Eddy returns to his path of revenge, at some point learning that Kazuya Mishima was the one responsible. Now with a clear target ahead of him, Eddy seeks an opportunity to confront and kill Kazuya.

Personality

Eddy is a calm and serious man. He has consistently shown concern, loyalty, and compassion for those dear to him. He will go to extreme lengths to do right by them or his father's case, exact revenge.

Appearance

Eddy is a tall man with dreadlocks tied into a ponytail, with eyebrow and ear piercings. His most recognizable outfit is a skintight crop top with capoeira pants, all bearing colors of the Brazillian flag and Faisca logo. In Tekken 7, he received a new outfit in the spirit of clothing he wore in previous games that conveyed his wealth and taste. He now wears brown, steel-toed boots, black leather pants, a white tank top, a jaguar print jacket, as well as various pieces of jewelry on his neck and fingers.

Playstyle

Eddy is a very unorthodox character with a wholly unique moveset that thoroughly represents the martial art of capoeira. While his sidesteps are highly inefficient, Eddy's horizontal movement is some of the best, allowing him to make good use of his long-range moves and space out his opponents, especially on infinite stages. Eddy can also prove a very tricky opponent to fight, as a variety of his stances and moves can evade enemy attacks and grant him an opportunity to launch for a very damaging combo. What makes it even better for Eddy is that few opponents can properly launch or punish his negative stance, allowing him to get away with receiving relatively small damage. Outside of slipping past the opponent's attack, Eddy also has many good pokes and mix-ups that enable him to reliably chip away at his opponent.

It should be mentioned, however, that while Eddy performs well when it comes to mid-range poking and keep-out, he has to take risks to get closer as his approach tools range from risky to not very effective. Many of his moves are also susceptible to sidestepping or simply not re-aligning with the opponent, which can complicate some combos and neutral situations.
