Biography

Within the Dragon Quest game series all the protagonists, besides the in-universe names or titles they have, are being referred to as Heroes. Most of the time the name can be chosen by the players themselves, and sometimes also can be gender.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate features several of the heroes within the same character slot, but the default one is the protagonist from Square Enix’s latest – Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age.

The Hero of Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age is referred to as either the Luminary or Eleven, was born to King Irwin and Queen Eleanor in the castle of the Kingdom of Dundrasil. However, an ancient calamity befell the nation, and the Hero needed to be spirited away for his own survival. He was put in a basket and put into the river so that the stream take him away.

He was rescued by an elderly fisher named Chalky and adopted into his family, where he was raised as a son of Amber, Chalky’s daughter.

For the next sixteen years, we lived in the village of Cobblestone. The Hero became friends with the girl names Gemma. Coincidentally, they were born on the same day and had to participate in the coming-of-age ceremony at the top of Cobblestone Tor together. At the top of the mountain, an incident happens, and when his childhood friend is faced with certain death, some ancient power awakens inside the Hero and he’s able to save Gemma. After this, his adoptive mother Amber reveals to him the truth about his birth and tells him of the destiny that awaits him.

In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, the Hero is a swordsman with a shield that can passively block some attacks while standing still. The Hero’s main gimmick is the 100 digit MP bar that he can use to unleash some devastating moves on his opponents. This is balanced out by the huge MP costs of the strongest spells, and his options become limited when he runs out of mana.
