Biography

A great master Goutetsu had two disciples. He taught them a mysterious martial art, powerful enough to have lethal techniques, such as Shun Goku Satsu (Instant Hell Murder). Those two students were Akuma and his elder brother Gouken.

After a while, Gouken understood that the art of his master is not his path. He did not want to go deep into the violent fights and let the dark energy Satsui no Hado possess him. Gouken left and opened his dojo. Akuma continued his practice and it made him compassion-less. Unlike Goutetsu, Akuma couldn’t use Satsui no Hado without becoming filled with dark energy.

Once, Akuma challenged his master for a deathmatch and won. Goutetsu died proudly - the disciple grew even more powerful than him. When Gouken saw the dead body of the master, he tried to fight Akuma, but the brother did not accept this challenge and went away.

Akuma met Gouken twice since then and they fought. Gouken won the first battle - he wanted to avenge the master. Akuma won the second one - he tried to prove the superiority of Satsui no Hado. Gouken seemed to be dead, so Akuma left. It turned out that Gouken emptied his soul and managed to survive and continue teaching his students, Ken and Ryu.

Ken saw the lethal attack of Akuma running to the dojo. He chased Akuma in the woods and fought him, but the young fighter was defeated.

Akuma starts his journey over the world, looking for a decent opponent. Once, he meets Gen who can confront Akuma but loses at the end. He survives only because Akuma refuses to kill an ill man.

The thoughts of Akuma are often concentrated on Ryu. He feels the potential of this guy - if only Ryu has accepted Satsui no Hado to become powerful enough to fight Akuma. They meet once on Akuma’s island. It seems like Ryu can win but then it turns out that it was only Akuma showing the weakness of the guy and then the power of Satsui no Hado that destroys the whole island.

Akuma fights M. Bison during the World Warrior Tournament and defeats the dictator. But still, his goal is to convince Ryu to become a disciple of Satsui no Hado. When Ryu gets serious injuries, Akuma fights Gouken once again to take Ryu away. This time no one wins, but Gouken saves Ryu, so Akuma leaves. But he doesn’t abandon the idea to make Ryu a decent opponent by opening his heart for the power of Satsui no Hado. They fight again, and Akuma wins - but this is obviously not the end of their weird relationship. Akuma tries to find an equal fighter and battles such guys as Necalli, but they are not a match to his enormous power.
