Biography

Throughout the anime, Goku regularly meets new, more powerful opponents, who give him a new motivation to grow stronger. Young Goku had relatively simple tasks, such as destroying the Red Ribbon Army or defeating Tao Pai Pai. But then, with the main protagonist gaining power, the villains have to become even more dangerous, reaching the level of such creatures as Frieza or Majin Buu.

Inevitably, some unusual tricks are needed to make Goku even mightier. We’ve got transformation into superior forms, such as Super Saiyan. And then, the creators of Dragon Ball introduced fusion, a magical process that combines the powers of two characters.

Goku has a regular partner for fusion. He is a former villain and a current Earth protector, Vegeta. These Saiyans can form two new personalities:

  • Gogeta, when Goku and Vegeta perform the Fusion Dance;
  • Vegito, when the fusion is powered by the Potara, earrings of the Supreme Kai.

Vegito appeared in the Dragon Ball universe to stop Majin Buu. All the other means proved to be insufficient — this new villain was unstoppable, and the individual efforts of Goku and Vegeta were bound to fail. Goku decided to merge with one of his allies, using the Potara earrings. Gohan was one of the potential candidates for this, but he couldn’t catch the earrings and was absorbed by Majin Buu. Goku searched for other warriors and sensed Vegeta nearby.

First, Vegeta was against this fusion, but that was obviously the only way. And that was the first time Vegito was formed. In both appearance and personality, this new character has features of two basic Saiyans, and still, Vegito considers himself as someone separated from Goku and Vegeta, a new being. And he is much stronger, really capable of defeating such opponents as Majin Buu.

For the Supreme Kais, the Potara earrings make a permanent fusion (Goku said that to Vegeta almost at the last moment). But it turned out that for mortals, the fusion can exist only for one hour. Vegito disappeared after defeating Majin Buu. And later, Goku himself was reluctant to fuse — his pride as a Saiyan motivates him to fight alone.

The first fusion created Vegito Super Saiyan, and it’s not an ultimate power form for him. Like Goku and Vegeta, he can become Super Saiyan Blue or Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan. That happened in another desperate situation during a fight against Fused Zamasu. After releasing that the Potara Fusion is their only option, Goku and Vegeta formed Vegito, and then this character himself transformed into the SSGSS form. Despite being a separate character, he has access to memories of Goku and Vegeta with their experiences of achieving this ultimate warrior level.

Super Saiyan Blue Vegito returns a couple of times after defeating Fused Zamasu. And again, Goku and Vegeta take this step only when there is no other way to fight against amazingly strong villains, such as Fu and Cumber.

In the game Dragon Ball FighterZ, Vegito is available on his superior form of SSGSS. He is a DLC character and does not appear in the story mode — Goku and Vegeta take care of evil clones and hungry Android 21 separately, only taking their form of Super Saiyan and, potentially, Super Saiyan Blue.

Playstyle of Vegito (SSGSS) in DBFZ

As a fighting game character, Vegito is versatile and very powerful. His arsenal has proper tools for many different situations, so you can find something great, especially for your playing style. Super Saiyan Blue Vegito is capable of dealing an impressive amount of damage when he finds an opening.

Players and characters with good defense and mobility will find what to oppose to Vegito’s strengths. His mix-up options are totally not breathtaking, so it might be hard for him to actually land his combo starter. Also, Vegito’s normals are punishable on whiff, so the players should be very cautious with them.
